First impressions matter, so when Walmart opens or remodels a store, the retailer needs to connect with local consumers immediately. Brand loyalty starts at the local level, so the message must be delivered in ways that reach the customers who live closet to the new stores.

We created a full-service grand opening communications plan that brought community members to the store and kept them coming back

We spent 20 years connecting Walmart to each new community. And there were a lot of communities. From on-the-ground public affairs support to hiring center promotion to managing community-wide media relations efforts for the opening events, Mitchell was there. We also scripted and produced a series of cable TV commercials to drum up support for the new or remodeled store. By finding and focusing our efforts on those who were most likely to shop, we were doing hyperlocal long before it became a trendy marketing term. Our scalable, turn-key approach helped Walmart generate media coverage in each market.
